"Low Pressure" Wood Restoration

power washing works!

Please take the time to read this, it could be very important to your Wallet as well as your Health!!

"The most important thing for any consumer to know is that deck restoration takes knowledge, skill, and experience to do the job correctly. The pressure of a power washer in inexperienced hands can cause irreparable damage in a matter of seconds. The use of pressure like 3,000 PSI to power wash can destroy wood and similar surfaces! Using a contractor with experience, knowledge of the right cleaners, and the proper equipment is the most cost-effective way to get the job done. That's why it's important to use an established, experienced contractor instead of concentrating on finding the lowest price."

untreated deck
This is what UV damage and rain will do to your deck or fence if left untreated!!

A professional cleaning involves removing the mold and mildew (or in some cases striping off old sealer) with one solution and then neutralizing the wood. This will allow for maximum longevity of the finishing product. Our finishing product of choice is Ready Seal.

What is READY SEAL®?

Ready Seal is an oil based semi-transparent sealer and stain in one. It is a unique blend of resin, pigment, oil, and algaecide that penetrates deeply into wood to protect and preserve it from the elements. Ready Seal can be used on all types of wood. Ready Seal contains trans-oxide pigment that acts as the UV protection. The trans-oxide pigment help protect your wood from fading and graying. Darker colors provide more UV protection. To properly maintain wood, a light cleaning and re-coat is recommended every two years on horizontal surfaces and every 3 to 4 years on vertical surfaces. Variances in the product longevity may be caused by original surface condition, application of product, and geographic location. Ready Seal is intended for exterior wood surfaces only.

Why should I hire a professional??

As pressure washing professionals we come across scenes like these all too often. The following are examples of what can happen if too much pressure is used to clean wood, and also what happens when someone without experience sprays stain on your siding, possibly causing thousands in damage!!

ARSENIC POISON WARNING!!

Recent and ongoing studies conducted by the EPA indicates that there are more reasons than you might think to have your deck or fence restored by a professional. If your deck or fence was built before January 1, 2004 and in some cases after, than chances are your deck was treated with CCA (Chromated Copper Arsenate). This product was used to protect wood from dry rot, fungi, molds, termites, and other pests that can threaten the integrity of wood products. This chemical is dangerous if ingested or inhaled. Studies suggest that applying certain penetrating coatings (e.g., oil-based semi-transparent stains [such as Ready-Seal]) on a regular basis (one re-application per year or every other year depending upon wear and weathering) may reduce the migration of wood preservatives from CCA-treated wood. In selecting a coating, consumers should be aware that, in some cases, "film-forming" or non-penetrating stains (latex semitransparent, latex opaque, and oil-based opaque stains) on outdoor surfaces such as decks and fences are not recommended, as subsequent peeling and flaking may ultimately have an impact on durability as well as exposure to the preservatives in the wood. Homeowners should leave the cleaning process up to a professional with the proper safety equipment.
